Awesome Stuff

Author: Richard Tulloch

Pages: 185

Finished Date: 28/03/08

Rating: 11/10 (Eleven out of ten)

Primary Conflict: Brian Hobble faces two major conflicts in this story: His humiliation for having a big nose, and a race to popularity. About his big nose: He is being called names at school, and is mostly worried about his major crush, Cassandra "Cassie" Wyman. About being popular, he makes excuse notes for everyone in school, jsut so he could get popular. Brian is in a drama act, which makes things worse, more complicated, and humiliating.

Best Part: The best part that happened more than once in the book was when Brian made excuse notes such as missing school, not having detention, etc so they wouldn't be in trouble. The excuse notes Brian wrote were unbelievably lame and funny, but strangely the teachers take the notes seriously. My favorite excuse note was the one where a student pretended to be a top-secret spy.

Freaky Stuff

Author: Richard Tulloch

Pages: 193

Finished date: 24/03/08

Rating: 10/10

Primary Conflict: Brian Hobble's five-year old little annoying brother gets too obsessed with a TV show, Zombie Squad, a TV episode for middle-school kids. This leads into serious problems, such as taking torn-clothed people as zombies and actually kick-boxing them. Meanwhile, another problem occurs, where Brian gets humiliated for acting really bad in a commercial, and being called 'The Kid who sucks'.

Best Part: The best part was when Brian had to wear a fairy costume and go on top of the stage and act out a 'fairy' spell. This was hilarious, and I couldn't stop myself from laughing so hard!

Best Part: The best part was when Alex glided through the sky with a hot air balloon's balloon without any proper equipment. This is cool because firstly, he's at a freakish height. Secondly, there's nothing below him. Lastly, it's almost impossible for a 14-year-old to do this!
